The Cattle Market, Leek

At the other end of Derby Street, behind the Monument sits the Cattle Market pub, so name because the old livestock market used to be held near by.

The Bird in Hand, Leek

At the end of Derby street you will find the Market place and sitting in the corner is the fine building that is the Bird in Hand.

The Cock, Leek

Right in the very centre of Leek on Derby street sits the Cock inn. Unlike the Moss Rose this pub has been visited by me many times over the years.

The Moss Rose, Leek

The Moss Rose, one of only 2 Leek pubs i have not been in for some strange reason. It is right on the edge of town on the Buxton road.

The Swan, Leek

A set of photos of Leek pubs this week, starting with the Swan which is on the corner of St Edwards street just opposite the church.

It says that Buxton is only 10 miles, but you would not have made it in a car that day as the road was blocked just a few mile on.

The sign to holiday accommodation on the Roaches. Fiveclouds is a Static Caravan situated at the foot of the Roaches an ideal spot to enjoy the local area.

This week it will be pictures of signs taken around the local area. This sign is on a pillar in the Holly bush pub in Denford, the line is above the level of the bar and when sitting down is just above my eye line.

Winter sun

The last of the snow pictures for a while, sunrise over Hen Cloud, part of the roaches above Leek.

Up in the hills by the side of a road, sits a lonely phone box.

The very edge of the main ridge with the tops of 2 very tall trees poking into view, if you look closely you can see that the snow over hangs the edge so i had to be very careful where i walked.

Rough road.

Another snow covered road, this time it's the road that goes across the front of the roaches, taken last Friday after a day spent walking in the hills.

Onecote snow

A shot of the church in Onecote in the snow, although the main road through the village was clear it was still a bit of a hair raising journey getting there, but well worth it to see such a lovely spot in perfect conditions.
